Mexico’s Sheinbaum Taps New Agriculture Minister

MEXICO CITY, ⁠May ⁠1 (Reuters) – ⁠Mexican President Claudia ​Sheinbaum has ‌tapped agronomist Columba ‌Jasmin ⁠Lopez ⁠to be the country’s ​next minister of ​agriculture and rural development, ⁠replacing ⁠current minister ⁠Julio Berdegue, ​her government said ​on ⁠Friday.

“Her appointment represents the ⁠arrival of the first woman to ⁠lead Mexican agricultural policy,” the agriculture ministry said in a statement.
