WASHINGTON, March ⁠17 (Reuters) – ⁠Illinois ⁠Lieutenant Governor ​Juliana Stratton ‌on Tuesday won ‌the ⁠Democratic nomination ⁠to run for ​U.S. Senate ​in Illinois, NBC ⁠News projected.

Illinois ⁠is ⁠a heavily Democratic ​state, meaning ​that ⁠Stratton is ⁠favored to win the November general ⁠election to succeed veteran U.S. Senator Dick Durbin.
