PARIS, April 7 (Reuters) – A French high-speed train crashed on Tuesday morning into a military truck at a level crossing in the north of the country near Calais, with the train driver feared to have died, said Fabien Villedieu from the SUD Rail trade union.
Villedieu added on X that besides the death of the TGV driver, several other passengers had been injured.
French transport minister Philippe Tabarot also confirmed the train crash in a post on X, adding he would be going to the scene of the accident.
State-owned railway operator SNCF said on its X account that the accident had occurred at a level crossing between the towns of Bethune and Lens, and that traffic had been interrupted.
