Peru Election Chief Resigns as Vote Count Drags On, Canal N Reports

LIMA, April ⁠21 (Reuters) – ⁠The head ⁠of Peru’s ​electoral authority, Piero ‌Corvetto, has resigned ‌as ⁠pressure ⁠grows over the long delayed ​results from the country’s ​April 12 presidential election, ⁠local ⁠news outlet ⁠Canal N ​reported on Tuesday.

Corvetto had ​previously ⁠acknowledged logistical delays to ⁠the electoral process but denied that ⁠any irregularities took place. Canal N showed a letter it said was Corvetto’s resignation ⁠letter.
