US Sanctions Nicaragua Vice Minister Over Alleged Human Rights Abuses

April 18 (Reuters) – ⁠U.S. ⁠Secretary ⁠of State ​Marco Rubio ‌said on ‌Saturday ⁠that the ⁠United States is imposing ​visa sanctions ​on Nicaragua’s vice-minister ⁠of ⁠the interior, ⁠Luis Roberto ​Cañas Novoa, for ​alleged ⁠involvement in ⁠human rights violations.

The sanctions render Cañas ⁠Novoa ineligible for entry into the United States.
