India Says Safe, Unimpeded Maritime Flows Vital for Global Economic Well-Being

NEW DELHI, ⁠May ⁠14 (Reuters) – Indian ⁠Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar ​said on Thursday ‌that “safe, unimpeded maritime ‌flows” ⁠through ⁠international waters, including the Strait of Hormuz ​and the Red Sea, are ​vital for global economic well-being.

“We ⁠must ⁠also address ⁠the increasing ​resort to unilateral coercive measures ​and ⁠sanctions inconsistent with international law and the ⁠UN Charter,” Jaishankar said in his speech ⁠at the meeting of BRICS foreign ministers in New Delhi.

BRICS includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Ethiopia, ⁠Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia.
