Mexico’s Sinaloa Governor Denies US Charges of Drug Cartel Involvement

MEXICO CITY, ⁠April ⁠29 (Reuters) – Mexico’s ⁠Sinaloa State Governor Ruben ​Rocha on Wednesday ‌denied U.S. Justice ‌Department allegations ⁠of ⁠links to the Sinaloa Cartel, labeling ​the charges as politically motivated.

The U.S. ​Justice Department earlier on Wednesday ⁠said ⁠it had ⁠charged Rocha ​and other current and former ​officials ⁠for their alleged involvement with the criminal organization.

Rocha ⁠said in a post on X that ⁠the accusations would be proven false. He also characterized the legal action as an assault on the Morena ⁠political party currently in power.
