Brazil Minister Says US Terrorist Designation of Local Gangs Could Impact Economy

SAO PAULO, ⁠May ⁠29 (Reuters) – A ⁠U.S. decision to ​designate the two ‌biggest Brazilian drug ‌gangs ⁠as ⁠terrorist organizations could impact Latin ​America’s largest economy on several ​fronts, including by jeopardizing ⁠foreign investments, ⁠Brazil’s ⁠Finance Minister ​Dario Durigan said on ​Friday.

In ⁠an interview with local network GloboNews, ⁠Durigan said the designation may pose a ⁠risk for investing in Brazil that did not exist before. U.S. Secretary of State Marco ⁠Rubio announced the decision on Thursday.
